Whatever his true motives, Arkhan the Black is a powerful ally for those who can afford his price. Arkhan rules from the Black Tower, maintaining an uneasy truce with monarchs of Nehekhara through the power of dark sorcery. 1: 0: 2: The Pyramid of Nagash Level 2 Occupied Pyramid of Nagash (Hamlet) The Empire is riddled with homesteads, farms and tiny groups of sullen houses filled with sullen folk. Nothing remains but destruction, ashes and the sorrowful taste of defeat. However, Nagash managed to escape before the Priest Kings found his tomb thanks to the sacrifice of Arkhan, who stalled the attackers long enough for his master to flee. The Pyramid of Nagash Level 1 Ruins This city lies in ruins. Upon Arkhan's return to Nehekhara, he raised an army of Skeletons to guard against his Tomb King rivals and carved out a realm of his own. Nagashs immortal lieutenants, who had taken refuge in the cursed Black Pyramid, were dragged out of their sarcophagi into the sunlight one by one and were executed by the vengeful Priest Kings. Only evil spirits stirred inside its catacombs. Following Nagash's defeat by the Army of the Seven Kings and Arkhan's mortal-death, the Black Tower was abandoned, and for centuries it remained a haunted place, shunned by all. The citadel was built by thousand of enslaved Bhagarites after that city had dared to resist Nagash and was meant to act as a guardian of the southern approach of Khemri.

Constructed in union with the accursed Black Pyramid, Arkhan's infernal spire and the lands that surround it are saturated with magic, and many vile things dwell in its shadow. The Black Pyramid of Nagash is present in both campaigns as a ten-slot settlement in Eye of the Vortex, it also produces the ritual component MacGuffins that other races are after. Isolated deep in the Cracked Land, the Black Tower offered Arkhan a refuge where he could develop his mastery of Dark Magic. The Black Tower of Arkhan was built by Nagash's trusted vizier at the height of the Reign of Terror.
